Our process - How we work

We work with you to decide what’s needed, build it and get it into people’s hands. You’ll see progress along the way, have a say in the decisions and know who to turn to after launch.

Work out what’s needed

We start with your business: what you want to do, who needs to use the product and what’s getting in the way. We look at the systems and data you already have, so the plan builds on what works and accounts for what needs replacing.

Together, we decide what to build first and how we’ll know it’s helping. We work through how people will find their way around, what information they need and how your team will manage it. If AI could help with search or recommendations, we explore that here too.

You get a plan with a budget, milestones and clear responsibilities. If we’re replacing a live system, we also agree how to move your data and introduce changes without interrupting everyday work.

What we work through

  • Goals and priorities
  • Existing systems and search
  • How we’ll measure progress
  • Content and structure
  • Testing ideas early
  • Moving data and planning launch

Make it work

We design around the people using the product, including the team looking after it. That means clear, accessible screens and editing tools with previews and permissions that fit people’s roles.

We build the product and connect it to your existing systems. You can try new features before customers see them, schedule when they go live and test different versions without waiting for another software release.

You’ll see working versions throughout the project and have chances to give feedback. Alongside that, we test the software, review accessibility and check performance against the goals we agreed.

Livid shipped features behind flags so we could schedule drops and switch instantly if needed. Releases stayed calm and the admin was easy for the team.

Launch, then keep improving

Before launch, we check the details of the move: where old links should go, whether the data is complete and how connected systems will behave. We introduce changes in stages and monitor availability, errors and how the product performs for real users.

We make sure search engines can find and understand the new pages, then use Search Console to spot issues. Where the product uses AI search or recommendations, we check the relevance of its results and the limits we’ve put in place.

Your team gets training and written guidance for the work they’ll do day to day. We stay available for support and use what we learn from actual use to decide which improvements to make next.

After launch

  • Checks before changes go live. We test individual features and how they work together, check accessibility and confirm the main tasks still work after a release.
  • Keeping things running. We manage deployment and monitoring on hosting that suits the project, using Vercel, Cloudflare, Hetzner or AWS. Caching and media delivery help keep pages quick.
  • Help when you need it. You have guidance to refer to, someone to contact when there’s a problem and a shared list of improvements to work through.

How we make decisions - What matters when we build.

The choices behind a product matter as much as what you see on screen. These are the things we come back to when deciding how to build it.

  • Keep the business running. We plan changes around the people who rely on the product, test them before release and keep track of what changed.
  • Make the decisions clear. We explain the options and trade-offs in plain language, and keep the scope and dates visible as the project develops.
  • Choose tools to fit the job. Sometimes an existing tool does the job. Sometimes you need something of your own. We choose based on the problem, including when to bring AI into the work.
  • Follow through. We look at how the product is being used after launch and use that evidence to guide the next round of work.
  • Look after your data. People get the access they need for their role. We review credentials and take care over how personal information is handled.
  • Respect people’s time. We optimise images and video, choose how pages are loaded and use caching so people spend less time waiting.
