Extension support - Service Worker Manager support

Service Worker Manager helps developers inspect and reset service workers and Cache Storage for the current origin of the active tab. Find out which pages it supports and what to try if something isn’t working as expected.

  • Supported pages. The extension works on standard http:// or https:// pages in the active tab. Restricted browser pages such as chrome:// and similar internal Chrome pages aren’t supported.
  • What it changes. It can inspect service worker registrations and Cache Storage for the current origin, then unregister workers, delete caches, or do both in one reset flow. Reloading the tab happens only if you explicitly choose it.
  • What it does not touch. The extension does not clear cookies, Local Storage, or IndexedDB, and it does not operate on other tabs or origins in bulk.

Troubleshooting

  • Open the popup while focused on a normal http:// or https:// page.
  • Some sites have no registered service workers or caches for the current origin. An empty list can be normal.
  • To remove stale state, try a reset. Choose reload if you also want to refresh the current tab afterwards.
  • If behaviour still looks wrong, send a short report to [email protected] with your Chrome version, operating system, affected origin, and what you expected to happen and what happened instead.

The extension is designed for the active browser tab on supported http:// and https:// pages. It does not run against restricted browser pages such as chrome:// or other internal Chrome surfaces.

What can the extension clear?

Service Worker Manager can inspect and remove service workers and Cache Storage entries for the current origin. It can optionally reload the tab after reset if the user explicitly chooses that option.

What does the extension not clear?

The extension does not clear cookies, Local Storage, or IndexedDB, and it does not act on other origins or tabs.

What should I include when reporting an issue?

Include the Chrome version, operating system, the affected site or origin, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and whether you enabled the reload-after-reset option. Screenshots are useful when the popup state is unexpected.
